Part-Time Field Manager

What:  We are looking for a person or two to help us manage our market-garden operations this season.  This job will include weeding, planting, and harvesting in the garden;  processing and packaging produce in the wash stations; and help directing our volunteer teams in the field.

When:  The season runs from May 1 – early October, 2024 and the hours are Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri 8am – 2 pm but we can be somewhat flexible with these for the right candidate.  Sometimes these hours may be reduced (early and late season, for instance), and very occasionally there is opportunity for more hours if you want them.

Qualifications:  Gardening experience is necessary, and market gardening experience is ideal but not required.  We hope that you also have some management or organizing experience.  Additional experience with food safety systems is preferred.  Must also love plants, and vegetables!  We are located east of Bayfield just off Hwy 160, and reliable transportation to the farm is essential.

We pay a competitive cash stipend weekly in addition to all the fresh veg you need.  We also offer paid breaks, a fun work environment, plenty of flexibility, and good communication.

Applications are open until 3/29/24

We would love to answer your questions, email or text Emily:  homegrownbiodyanmics@gmail.com, (970) 769-9110

Volunteer for 2024 – Work one half-day per week in trade for a full CSA Share

This is a great, low pressure way to spend time with us in the garden and get some fresh produce for you and your family.

This volunteer season runs from May 6, 2024 – September 27, 2024.  Our work days are from 9 am – 1 pm in the garden, with a break in the middle.  We are looking for people who can commit to a consistent day each week*, and we ask that you attend 14 work days during the season (the season is 21 weeks long, so you have a lot of flexibility for all of your summer plans).  The days you may choose are:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

In trade for your time and dedication, we give you a full CSA share, plus extras when available.  You will pick up your share on Tuesday evenings at our CSA Pick-up at the farm (between 4 and 6 pm, from June 18 – Oct 1).

Bring your kids  (we have a shade hut and a trampoline in the field, and our kids are here, and if you’re comfortable they can go to the creek and forest, too – plenty to explore.  They must be at least 5 years old and able to hang without you for chunks of time), but please leave the dogs at home.

We mostly will be weeding the garden and harvesting during the volunteer time.  Please be aware that the work requires squatting for extended periods of time, so you need your knees and back on board 😉  We love to share about our experience gardening here at high altitude, and love to host volunteers who want to learn more about gardening or who are wanting to get something going at their own place!

*We need folx to be mostly regular with their day each week, but we also can be flexible when you need it – you can swap to a different day sometimes, or double up to get your days in if you need.  If you have a teacher’s schedule and want to do this – we can make it happen in your 9 or 10 week summer!  Let us know your needs, we can definitely work with you as your summer rolls out to make sure that you can fulfill your commitment to the farm in a way that works for you.
